SNK Studios win award for Best Sound Design

We are delighted to announce that SNK Studios have won the award for Best Sound Design at the 2012 Music and Sound Awards. Miloco Builds created two studios for the company in London’s West End in 2010/11, which are used for sound design, music and voice-over recording. We’d like to offer our congratulations to Seb Julliver and his team at SNK on the award and hope they’ll be many more to come!

BBC Children In Need Project

Miloco Builds were contacted by Children In Need to specify and supply acoustic treatment for two studios and a live room after their main contractor pulled out. With just a few days until the grand unveiling we managed to get a design together, and with some generous contributions from our friends James and Matt at RPG Europe we were able to fit out the studios. Mickey made his TV debut in a flying visit and everyone was delighted with the results.

Chemical Brothers

The Chemical Brothers have had a long association with Miloco and Nick Whitaker, who they asked to refit their private studio. Mickey and the Miloco Builds team spent a month remodelling the monitor wall for some new ATCs, as well as supplying new furniture for their huge collection of synths.

Stephen Street

Stephen was looking to build a room in a garage space. There were a few key factors to consider for this particular studio design. Firstly, Stephen required a booth for overdubbing; he also commissioned a bespoke workstation; and lastly due to the close proximity of other studios in the building, it needed to be a fully soundproofed room. We were all extremely happy with the speed in which this build came together.

Having previously built Richard’s programming suites in Hoxton we knew that getting the isolation between the Control room and “b” room was paramount to enable him to mix in both rooms simultaneously. Nick Whitaker was on hand to make sure both rooms were perfectly tuned to meet Richard’s exacting standards.

Matt Johnson

Miloco have worked alongside Matt Johnson for many years running his Garden Studio in Shoreditch. The Garden had previously been refurbished by Miloco Builds, who also rebuilt the main monitor wall to install a Boxer monitor system. However due to the studio’s increased commercial popularity, Matt approached us to also build him a new private room where he could write and overdub.

Danton Supple

Danton’s private room in the Battery Studio complex needed refurbishing. We knocked through into a small booth to give a larger control room. Then, we replaced all the existing fabric and installed an oak dado giving easy access to tie lines and power.

Calvin Harris

Calvin needed to float the floor of his control room and then supply and fit a dark oak floor. He also commissioned a bespoke workstation to house his new API console.

Alan Moulder

Alan needed his main monitors recalibrating, and the structure of his control room’s front wall needed rebuilding to achieve this. Miloco Builds acoustician Nick Whitaker ensured that the acoustic considerations for one of today’s most highly-demanded mix engineers were fully met.

We worked for Rocket Management on a consultancy basis; helping with their recording studio design, overseeing their contractors and fitting out rooms with acoustic treatment and custom-built studio furniture.
